How is Vault different from free LLMnesia?
Free LLMnesia captures and searches AI chats locally in each browser profile. Vault is the optional paid service that syncs those archives across your browsers and computers, keeps an encrypted backup, and powers the Vault web app. You do not need Vault for local capture or search.
What is the Vault web app?
It is an installable subscriber beta at vault.llmnesia.com for searching and reading your synced archive on phone or desktop. You create and connect your first Vault in the browser extension, then unlock that existing Vault in the web app.
What is Ask Vault?
Ask Vault is a feature inside the Vault web app beta. It answers questions across your synced history using your chosen AI provider and your own API key. Its answers are grounded in your conversations and link back to the sources they used.
Which AI platforms does it cover?
Vault syncs the history LLMnesia indexes from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Meta AI, DeepSeek, Grok, Mistral, Kimi, Qwen, Google AI Studio, Character.AI, and Z.ai. Local Claude Code, Codex, and ZCode sessions are a separate source type, and can join the same archive when indexed. Vault does not maintain a separate platform list: when the extension adds support, that indexed history can join your encrypted archive too.
Is syncing the opposite of local-first?
No. Your local index and search still live on your device. Vault adds an encrypted copy that your own devices can share. Encryption happens before upload and LLMnesia never receives the key needed to read your archive.
Do I need Vault to use MCP?
No. MCP is a separate free feature for compatible desktop AI apps and works with the local archive on that computer. Vault provides encrypted sync, backup, restore and the Vault web app.
How do I subscribe?
The quickest route is LLMnesia Settings in the extension: open the Vault panel, start your subscription there, and Stripe Checkout opens with no second sign-in. Or subscribe here with the same email as your Vault account. Either way, Stripe activates sync automatically after payment.
