Microsoft Copilot History Not Loading: Causes and Fixes

Microsoft Copilot's conversation history can fail to display — showing a blank pane, missing recent conversations, or a sidebar that spins without loading. In most cases the conversations are not lost; there's a loading or authentication issue that can be resolved.

This guide covers every known cause and the specific fix for each.

Step 1: Check if Microsoft services are down

Before troubleshooting locally, confirm the problem isn't on Microsoft's side.

1. Go to status.microsoft.com or the Microsoft 365 Service Health dashboard
2. Check if Copilot or related services show any incidents or degraded performance
3. On the Microsoft Edge browser, the Copilot icon in the toolbar may show a status indicator if there's a known issue

If Microsoft's services are degraded, wait for the incident to resolve. History will return once service is restored.

Step 2: Hard refresh the page

The simplest fix for intermittent loading problems:

2. Click your account icon in the top right
3. Verify the email address shown is the one you expected

For important Copilot conversations, the practical prevention is:
