This creates a unique retrieval challenge: finding a specific exchange requires knowing (or remembering) which character you had that conversation with.

Unlike ChatGPT or Claude where all conversations appear in a single unified sidebar, Character.AI organises history by character:

• Each AI character has its own conversation history
• When you start chatting with a character, the new session continues the existing thread or creates a new one (depending on settings)
• Your profile shows recently interacted characters, not a global conversation list
• There is no single view that shows all conversations across all characters

This architecture means that retrieval requires a two-step process: identify which character the conversation was with, then navigate to that character's history.

Method 1: Access history through a specific character

If you remember which character you were chatting with:

1. Go to the character's page (find it via search or your Chats list)
2. Open the chat with that character
3. Look for the "Chats" or history option — this shows previous sessions with this specific character
4. Browse to find the session you're looking for

2. Search for "character.ai"
3. Look for URLs containing character names or chat IDs

Character.AI conversation URLs typically include the character's name, which makes browser history search more useful here than on platforms with opaque numeric IDs. A search for the character's name in your browser history may surface the specific session URL.

Method 4: Browser Ctrl+F in an open conversation

Character.AI conversations — especially roleplay sessions — can be very long, running hundreds of messages. If you've located the right conversation:

1. Open it in Character.AI
